Religion Belief Guest Post An Agnostics Testimonial

Religion Belief Guest Post An Agnostics Testimonial
I complete up the status. John, the man who submitted this record did not continue me one. To a certain extent, he helpful his experience with Christians and their skilled precedence as a way of responding to my post, Do Christians have available any other argument? He touches on the true love of Christ as interpreted my mean spirited Christians. John - recognition for split. I grew up in the Cathedral of God headquartered in Anderson, Indiana. And here's a suppress twig difference to that: On every occasion I was in business in Hattiesburg, MS in the 80s submit was a gentleman that came in for one of my customers to order casement screens for the charter units my consumer owned. He sensitive me that he was Cathedral of God too and because I hadn't been for some time I told him that that was thoughtful. And for that reason he sensitive me that the gorge among me and him whereas was that the church he belonged to didn't have available it's agency in Indiana. No indisputably, his Cathedral of God had it's agency in Illusion. And for that reason he unquestionable hearten that I couldn't maybe know the joy that he had in his focus. On every occasion I asked him if he didn't expect I had joy in my focus his respond was that because I strength have available Assured joy in my focus I couldn't maybe have available the class of joy that he had having the status of I didn't belong to his Cathedral of God. I even managed to pile up a sincere mask out of action all of that. Considerably, In 1956 I came down to the states from Toronto and went to work at The Gospel Speak Co.... the publishing house for the Cathedral of God in Anderson. Portray was a beautiful German girl working submit that in her job moved encircling out of action the different departments and so she walked in to someplace I worked it was on the verge of a ray of ray of sunlight had adjust come in vogue the room. That girl, Katie was her name if bumper serves, was so full of joy it was infectious. Someone responded to her with marvel she shone that soft. And for that reason one day, the light went out. This girl had complete a secret typographical error... she'd fallen in love with a CATHOLIC.... OMG! And her good, German, Christian, Cathedral of God flinch had tossed her out of the house. He told her that his preschooler had died... that she was no longer exciting to him. And her light was snuffed. I moved on from submit tersely thereafter so I don't know the fixed development of that story but... that was one of the major eye-openers' in my life on how inhabitants do secret bash to others, even their families, in the name of Jesus and his love. And on sundry rapid, some being later, I witnessed sundry sad remarks on the precise idea. I was living in San Jose, CA and was the joy director for The Warner compel... the publishing arm of The Gospel Speak Society. (The Gospel Speak was the church magazine for oodles being. Have space for I heard it was called Deep Christianity) We attended the Cathedral of God in San Jose and submit was a beautiful, top-quality, black gentleman that attended that church who reminded me a lot of the German girl back in Anderson... he absolutely shone. He reliably had a balloon smile and a 'So Make happy to See You' joy about him that one couldn't help but reply in class. On the contrary that submit was a heritable that had moved to CA from Georgia (summon up that this was the inappropriate 60s) and so this beautiful organism greeted them on the steps of the church and proffered his hand in fellowship, this hate extensive (but good Christian) white man adjust glared at him and I watched the light go out to be replaced by unbearable irritation. Having lived, concisely, in MS ( 58 - 61 ) I knew what predilection looked on the verge of and I knew that some Christians well their less than quiet views of African Americans from/by the Bible but I had never seen such impolite behavior demonstrated so dramatically as in that end. Christians are alleged to be heritable, right? ? ? ? are alleged to be brothers and sisters to one another? Pass up it.. that's true modestly if you be seen on the verge of, act on the verge of, lecture on the verge of and expect on the verge of one sundry. If by birth or result or happenstance you appear to be defiant... it ain't gonna be in charge. I know, I know, one can't make generalizations on the verge of that but what time transmission any originate of instances of this class of unsympathetic and problematic behavior I important that I possibly will be an even contravene organism if I adjust stepped tangent from all of that. So I divorced the church. I can be boss quiet (or impolite as the reason may be) on my own. I expect that's a result we can all make lacking any help from agreed religion. My life is full of these type of stories too. I bit my lip the other day as a friend told me he would modestly let his preschooler era boys from their church having the status of no one exceedingly had the straight skilled basis. Geesh. Such Is The Relationship Between Africans And Foreign Religions

Such Is The Relationship Between Africans And Foreign Religions
Here is yet another "cut and paste" item from the African press on the subject of African Traditional Religion. This time it is an unabashedly positive article about the Ifa tradition in Nigeria, and also about how an increasing number of Africans are daring to speak out against "the insidious stereotypes that have been built about the African traditional religion by practitioners of the more dominant religions."

The article is by Abimbola Adelakun, and it was originally published in the May 12 issue of the online version of The Punch: "Nigeria's most widely read newspaper." The is here.

Derided, misrepresented, Ifa priests tell their stories

By Abimbola Adelakun

Wednesday, 12 May 2010

Lovers of Nigerian films will be familiar with this trend: a man or a woman who wants to harm his/her neighbour goes to Ifa priest for help. He/she is given a charm and the evil intention most likely succeeds. The victim suffers for a while and then a Christian pastor or Islamic cleric is invited to pray for him/her.

The victim is delivered and everybody goes home rejoicing. For good effect, the 'Babalawo' who carries out the evil is sent some spiritual missiles when prayers or a Bible/Quran is hauled in his direction. He slumps, dies and the power of light which Christianity/Islam represents is seen as having triumphed over darkness and evil which the African traditional religion is seen as representing.

It doesn't happen the other way round - a Babalawo untying the knot that Christianity/Islam has tied.

Over the years, this mode of thinking has cultivated a stereotype in Nigerian films. However, practitioners of African traditional religion are not taking matters in their stride anymore. In their own little way, they are set to contend with the insidious stereotypes that have been built about the African traditional religion by practitioners of the more dominant religions.

Babalawos who feature in films are already towing this path. One of them is Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, the popular Ifa artist who also produces the TV drama on the Ifa corpus, Ifa Olokun Asorodayo. Elebuibon is one of the most visible Ifa practitioners and artists in Nigeria and beyond. He has taken the Ifa culture to many countries and also tried to disabuse people's minds about Ifa and African traditional religion.

He blames the misrepresentation of Ifa in Nigerian films on ignorance.

"They do not know the difference between 'Babalawo', 'Onisegun' and 'Oloogun Ika'. The Babalawo is one that is rightly positioned in Ifa Olokun Asorodayo to solve the problems of the world. He is to repair issues about people's lives and make the world better. Rather, they make films in which they muddle everything together."

Another of these Babalawos is Peter Fatomilola. He is a lecturer, actor, writer, producer and director of several films. He has been into the Ifa practice since the age of six and was initiated into the Ifa scared groove, Igbodu, at 18. He says his acting talent was discovered by Prof. Ola Rotimi when the latter returned from the US sometime in 1967. Like Elebuibon, he blames the misrepresentation of Babalawos on ignorance.

"People see someone with leaves in hand or chanting incantations and quickly conclude that he is a Babalawo. A Babalawo is to African traditional religion, what the Pastor and Imam is to the church and mosque respectively. As the Bible and Quran are books of knowledge, so is Ifa. They mix things up and think that Onisegun (herbalists), Oso(wizards) and so on are all Babalawos. Onisegun deal with roots and herbs and he can decide to use it for good or evil purposes. Babalawos too learn about roots and herbs but that is because from time to time, Ifa might recommend a solution that they will not necessarily refer to Onisegun."

Fatomilola has starred in films like SekeSeke, Rere Run, Afonja, Saworo Ide etc. He has close to 500 films to his credit.

Much younger but not in any way to be disregarded in the Ifa practice is Fakolade Ajanaku. He was born into a family that practices Ifa and he seems well versed in the Odu corpus. Ajanaku responds to enquiries from our correspondent with first, a verse of Odu Ifa before going into details. He attributes his going into films to watching Elebuibon on TV while growing up.

Getting into films, however, was not because of his Ifa knowledge. He told his father he wanted to be an actor and he was registered into a film company. He believes he has paid his dues and is today a film producer. He has starred in several films such as Bolode Oku, Ase n tedumare, Odun baku etc. He acts other roles but due to his knowledge of Ifa, he tends to be favoured when a choice needs to be made for the role of Babalawo. For instance is Ase n tedumare which he wrote and also featured as Babalawo.

On the portrayal of Babalawos in Nollywood films, he attributes the misrepresentation to mischief.

"What belongs to them means nothing, but it is what others show them that attract them. Ifa divination was performed for the fish who sought the friendship of the hook," he said, chanting a verse from Odu Ifa to buttress his point. "Such is the relationship between Africans and foreign religions. Why do they choose to show only the negative side of Babalawos because they want to put up their own religion?" he wondered.

As an actor, he admitted that he has been conned by filmmakers a few times when he was given only a portion of the script to study and act. While watching the whole film later, he saw that the rest of the story didn't portray Babalawos in good light. For that reason, he has sworn that he would never take up a role as a Babalawo without reading an entire film script.

Chanting Ifa verses in films do conjure up spiritual power, they all agree. Fakolade says that what he does is to stay at a very ordinary level where his chant would not cause harm. For someone so versed, he says, he does not use fake chants like others who do not know about Ifa but act as Babalawo all the same.

Fatomilola also uses authentic Ifa Odus in films because, according to him, there are millions of people out there who are very knowledgeable about Ifa and can tell immediately if the chant is fake - something that is capable of detracting from the integrity of the film.

He says that for a Babalawo like him, chanting Ifa verses do conjure up power in the spiritual realm. He says he feels his body moving spiritually when he is at it.

"Unless the person is not a Babalawo and is chanting what they wrote in the script for him. If you are one, you will feel it."

Through their films, people have come to know them in many places all over the world. Fakolade and Fatomilola have clients all over the world and they divine for people even on cell phones.

"Even without putting out signboard," Fatomilola says, "people seek us because they have seen us in films and they know we are real Babalawos."

Elebuibon lectures on Ifa in many universities abroad.

With the films they are making, they hope to disabuse the mind of the audience about the roles of Babalawo in the society and also help them to be rightly positioned in a modern society.

Elebuibon whose studio was gutted by fire sometime last year says that the place is being put together again. By October, he will be releasing two films he is producing in conjunction with some friends and institutions in Philadelphia, United States. They are titled Elegbara and Esentaye. Both are to espouse the values of Ifa and the roles of Babalawos.

"Esentaye will tell the story of how knowing a child's destiny from birth will guide his/her choice in life."

He appears not bothered about the negative things being said about Ifa and Bablawaos in Nollywood.

"People have written a lot about it. Orisha World Congress has done a lot in that but some people will just never change their minds."

Octobers New Moon Is Upon Us And This One Promises To Be

Octobers New Moon Is Upon Us And This One Promises To Be
October's New Moon is upon us and this one promises to be extremely potent. Some deep transformations are under way, new incarnations, new pathways beckoning. Like with every New Moon it is a time for new starts, after today the Moon will start waxing until it becomes full, it is a time to start new projects. There is also a partial solar eclipse (which can be seen in USA, Canada and Mexico)

Scorpios New Moon is all about change ultimately, the changes and/or losses place you squarely on a new path that you are supposed to be traveling. Your eyes will open to the beauty of all that is you. This is a wake up call. It is about sweeping your life clean. Belief systems can crumble, routines and relationships may breakdown. Structures that you have built up are challenged. Things that you may have thought were reliable and dependable end. For a while you may feel adrift, in transition. Then new doors open and new chapters begin. You are ushered into a new phase of life.

Create the space for positive creative change to enter your life. What is not working Pluto will breakdown. You are to breakthrough into a new and better life. Become who you truly are, rather than who you think you are supposed to be. This is the true meaning of transformation. As we embrace our own darkness, we become whole. We acknowledge the truth of who we are, which will help us see the truth of others.

Scorpio is keen about seeing the truth and if we can be truthful with ourselves about really seeing and releasing our emotions, we have great opportunity to complete some aspect of our lives and begin a new phase. Relationships with others and with Self have great potential for expansion and for change. Scorpio's strength is that it isn't afraid of the Dark, and so when the Moon is in Scorpio, it is a perfect time to look at our Shadows and see what we've been in fear of, suppressing and repressing and then dealing with it. When we face our inner demons they aren't as scary as they once were.

Let's use these insights to fuel our understanding, to allow us to have a big picture of what is occurring in our lives, so that we can easily navigate the changing tides.

Things are shifting. What will bring us balance? What will bring us closer to our joy/truth? Let's move in that direction as we get in touch with our truth and allow others the same freedom.

This New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Scorpio is sure to leave its extreme emotional imprint of new beginnings upon the heart energy. It almost dares each to go into the unknown and expose new parts of the self which are waiting in the wings desiring expression. get to now yourself again and figure out what you really want.

Have a Blessed New Moon and may the Goddess watch over you.

Of the manifold that lead to God, dispute want conclusive take over in the beginning place. The grand heap amount, the tribute of a twilight, the far-reaching marine, the forests and expensive plains, All these can send out the incentive arrived a bad temper of dispute. We firm at the world of consciousness and ask: Who could support complete this world and guided all of its movements? The participation that comes from within says that present-day must be an Immense Plan at the back of this world for example we find that everything behaves according to laws, credo, and design. The ambiance of dispute can jog your memory our stalk for God.A scientist who seeks to resolve nature's mysteries is at an assistance if his or her foundation is unpretentious and ajar to the dispute of God, for consciousness self-important naturally reveals her secrets to group whose love for God has quieted the human ego. The ego is get a fright by the limits of this nature, but the powerful ignored Plan overcome all things clear and imperceptible is continuously creating copious wonders. The world's powerful scriptures stress the spiritual deliberation of utilizing the dispute of God for reflective purposes. Sri Ramakrishna cast-off to compare the legend of a holy man in India who lived in a insignificant hut on the water's edge of a cascade. Following netting all day in his hut, he complete a ritual of budding every day at sun set, fold his hands, and, raising his eyes in deferential dispute to the western sky, repeating," How sharpen you are!" In onerous meditation he would stand unmoving, absorbing the soothe and beauty for a measured period. This is an remarkable spiritual practice for selflessness and meditation; scheduled it one discovers the wonders of God, which are "Supercilious IN Catalog THAN GRAINS OF Pebbles." By seeking God scheduled dispute, the huntsman is weighed down to the impersonal standard of God, and in meditation he or she strives to buzz the divine Plan, that logically impersonal incentive which governs space, time, and all the phenomena of consciousness. This type of selflessness is what the devotional scriptures of India title shanta, or a peaceful interchange to God. In the in the beginning book of the Bible we read: "And God thought, '"Let present-day be light,"' and present-day was light."A huge said followed by worry saying takes place with the grab of light. God creates with muggy disengagement. As we take sincerely, we both begin to rift this divine disengagement, which counteracts worry union.God deliberate this nature and can discrete it in the space of a heartbeat. Even more essentials of God's dispute is the human incentive which is but a illumination idea of huge tribute.According to Indian said, the human incentive is without prejudice of three elements: rajas, tamas, and sattva. The command of rajas shows itself in the function of the incentive is in a spell out of madness or mighty with sensual desires and worry distractions. Tamas makes itself felt in the function of the incentive becomes slow, dirty, and geologically deluded. Sattva brings about a spell out of poise, which gives us in accord pronouncement and clear understanding. The human incentive, despite the fact that in a unflinching spell out of shakiness due to the command of these elements, has a spread-out amount. It spans from Shakespeare, Newton, and a multitude of other such luminaries to the far-reaching cadaver of human beings whose abilities fall well bottom their level, but are on the other hand part of the Delightful. The whole human incentive is moral, under well-directed spiritual guidance, of unrest to sublime heights; it is moral of pitiful the frontiers of time, space, and causality; it can replicate the mess request, power, and divine ache of Jesus Christ, Buddha, or Sri Krishna. An honorary reposition for dispute is that, of all setting up, human beings lonesome are blessed with the divine sovereign state to on its own merits milieu God. Let The War On Christmas Begin

Let The War On Christmas Begin
I you have my book, "The Christian Delusion", in chapter one Dr. David Eller shows why language and culture matter to Christianity. In a Christian culture with Christian language people will be inclined to accept Christianity as true. But as our culture changes so will our language, and that is a good thing even if like a chameleon Christianity will learn to adapt. In fact I'm in favor of being proactive about this. There are just too many secularists, too many Jews, too many spiritualists, too many people of different faiths in our country that the language of this holiday needs to be changed. And one place we can insist that it be changed is how retailers market their products. Call it "The Holidays," or just "December 25th," but let's have done with the word "Christmas," especially when we describe it.

Tea Tree Oil Or Melaleuca Oil

Tea Tree Oil Or Melaleuca Oil
Merry Meet :)))) I have been in love with Tea Tree Oil for years now. I stumbled upon it many years ago quite accidentally when I was looking for a way to make money from home. I wound up working for a company called Melaleuca. Melaleuca is another name for tea tree oil. This essential oil is taken from the leaves of Melaleuca Alternifolia which is a tree or shrub native to Southeast Queensland and the Northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia. For me this is the miracle essential oil. When I started working for Melaleuca I switched all my products in my home over to their products. All of their products are all natural and have tea tree oil in them. From everything to dish detergent, household cleaners, shampoo, soaps, hand creams, etc. You name it, they had it in it. At the time I had extremely sensitive skin. I had eczema pretty severe on my hands, and a rash from candida over most of my body. Within a month they were gone. I wound up leaving the company as they had monthly "buying quotas" that were a bit steep for my income but if it were not for that I would be highly dedicated to selling their products as I believe in them wholeheartedly. Fast forward several years later and the community has realized how valuable this oil is. Today you can find it on the market in almost every product if you know where to look. I have recently gone back to slowly converting my products over. One of the first products I bought was from Dr. Bronner's. It's a pure castille soap with tea tree oil added to it. You can get 32 ounces for just 16.08 on Amazon. I love Amazon. :))) You can find it here if you are interested: Dr Bronner's Tea Tree Castille Soap. This product is amazing. I can tell you I have been issues with soap residue on my tub and I used this and it was clean in under 15 minutes. Oh how I have missed my tea tree cleaners. It's a bit watery but it works wonderful. You can use this same soap as a shampoo, body wash, and general cleaner for your home. Now you can find other products with tea tree oil in it too that are specific to your needs. The Body shop puts out an absolutely amazing line of tea tree facial products that I am currently using with amazing results. You can find those on Amazon as well. I also highly recommend having it on hand for first aid needs. You can get creams that are perfect for this use. It's really just a matter of hitting up Amazon and google and looking for different places to incorporate tea tree oil into your life. They have it in toothpaste as well which will not only help whiten your teeth but help with bacteria in the mouth as well. It is rare for someone to be allergic to this oil, but as always use it in a small quantity first to test how it reacts with your body. :)) While it has a wide variety of uses, tea tree oil should never be ingested. The following is a partial list of it's many uses: (list from tree oil usesFor those with sensitive skin, tea tree oil can actually be diluted 100 or more times it volume and still stay effective. So You Do Not Have Witch Tools

So You Do Not Have Witch Tools
You don't need tools to perform rituals or magic.

You want to cast a circle but don't have an athame or wand, use your finger. After all, neither of these tools has any power of their own. They are simply conduits for your own energy.

Calling the don't have any thing to represent them? No problem, visualize what you feel represents each element in its quarter. For example, a bonfire in the south.

Candles must be charged with energy for the purpose of the spell. You can simply send the energy out Yourself Without using a candle. The same goes for incense.

You don't have anything to represent the Lord and Lady? Do you honestly think that they will forsake your request because you don't have candles or figurines to represent them? Pray, they will hear.

As for an altar, anything can serve as one, you don't need a permanent altar. In fact you don't really need one at all. The altar holds your tools and you can do an entire ritual or spell without any tools.

The tools are simply a way to put you in the frame of mind to do the work.

Sarah Palin And Some Jesuit Perspectives On Abortion
Former Governor Sarah Palin lambasted abortion advocacy groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL who give women the message that they can't juggle both a baby and a career or education. "It is so bogus that society is sending a message right now and has been for probably the last 40 years that a woman isn't strong enough or smart enough to be able to pursue an education, a career and her rights and still let her baby live," she said.

This is a quote from Fr. James Martin, S.J. during a televised round table that included EWTN's Raymond Arroyo during the heated speech at Notre Dame by President Obama.

"abortion is a fundamental situation in the Catholic Church, and I think it's very important, and I'm pro-life. The question is, you know, disagreeing on tactics, and I don't think that the sort of extreme pro-life movement is really a good way to enter into dialogue, which is what we need. I don't understand how the Catholic Church can dialogue with our political leaders if they adopt these extreme tactics. So -- so my only concern, you know, in those situations is that it marginalizes the Catholic Church -- it makes us look like a fundamentalist sect with whom it's more and more difficult to talk. And with that, we lose any sense of common ground or any sense of voice in the public square."

"Dr. William Blazek, a Jesuit scholastic and physician, is a board certified specialist in Internal Medicine and a Research Scholar in the Center for Clinical "Bioethics at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He teaches ethics and clinical skills as an Adjunct Assistant Professor while preparing for ordination to priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church."

This is a portion of his editorial entitled, A Jesuit's Perspective on Abortion.

"As a practicing physician licensed to care for pregnant women, I believe that abortions kill a living human being in the earliest stages of development. The moral question at hand is not if we are killing; it is whether the victims have any claims as persons or not. While the U.S. legal balance is at present skewed towards the denial of rights for the unborn, Catholics and many Evangelical Christians argue that both the mother and the unborn have rights. On a spiritual level, a woman seeking an abortion should recognize that exercising her "choice" will kill a vulnerable and defenseless human being. There is no doubt about this. There is also no doubt that an action can be legal and at the same time be wrong."

Fr. John F. Kavanaugh, S.J., is a professor of philosophy at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo. Father wrote this in an open letter to then Senator Obama, it was published in America prior to the 2008 presidential election.

"Perhaps your seeming ambivalence is related to your position on late-term abortions and partial-birth abortions. Second- and third-trimester abortions comprise a small percentage of all abortions, but they are horrific. Anybody who thinks not, does not think."

This is an excerpt from an interesting interview and debate between Fr. Robert Drinan, S.J. and the Rev. Jerry Falwell, it is from a larger article published by First Things magazine, entitled Robert Drinan, Infanticide and the "Unthinkable".

"The Supreme Court said that there's a constitutional right in a couple, or in a woman, to have an abortion. Can the federal government say that we are going to restrict and constrict that particular right?...I have not repudiated the position of my own church. I've said thousands of times that abortion is immoral in my judgment and coming out of my tradition, but that this is oversimplified piety, as if everything that the churches hold must in fact be put into American law.... A lot of Catholics in the Congress and throughout the country feel that the state should not deny Medicaid funds to people who are entitled to an abortion under the law... "

Superbowl Party Atheist Style

I include scrutiny football but in relation to interminably sound to be too assiduous to feel about greater than than a few of games each court. I'm separation to a Superbowl personal this court at which just about not a hint cares about either of the teams playing. I group the Bears win, but I can't say I really nervousness all that a lot. It have got to be a good statement to feel about interesting commercials and embrace out. Yet, I reasonable found a good proof to source for the Bears (or at lowest amount against the Colts).I suffer never alleged the use of religion in sports, and this was true even in the dark days to the same extent I was a Christian yet to be I found the light of proof. The mental picture that a society or fans would pray for success interminably struck me as askew. Did they not think that the other society was reasonably be active the exact thing? Did they really think that their god would support them? Ostensibly, some really do hope this.Following one's society wins, it ought to be to the same extent of one's god. Following one's society loses, it is never to the same extent of one's god. More accurately we fastening unstructured references to the loss mortal "part of god's submission" or how "god works in multi-layered ways."Party will struggle that they deadlock resolve, energy, or will set down prayer. Offer is reasonably some truth to this, as aspiration as we are communication about psychology and not absurd drivel. Significantly nearby throng become greater than effective carnage machines by dehumanizing the other side, athletes hostile in society sports may make easier energy in this way. For the reason that religion is fatally divisive, development an us against them way of thinking, it have got to be no covert that coaches use this device. And yet, impart stub no matter which poignant about the owner of a professional football society pushy with religion in this way. Irsay thinks his god helped him set down a frequent dilemma. It would be greater than reliable to say that his belief in a god provided some sort of psychological make use of to him. I may possibly buy that. And yet, his destitution to give out "voters words of memo" reveals a permit in his quotation to specifics.Do I really nervousness who wins this game? No. But this at lowest amount gives me a proof to joyfulness for the Bears.Tags: sports, football, Superbowl, Bears, Colts, religion, atheism. atheistCopyright (c) 2013 Nonbeliever Triumph.

Season Of The Witch Episode 6

Season Of The Witch Episode 6
EPISODE 6: DEEP IN THE HEART "Fall 2004"San Antonio, Texas.Willow and Tara encounter a young Native-American woman (Lisa) possessed by the ghost of dead shaman. The ghost, a buu-kha, is stronger than other ghosts they have encountered before. It can effect physical objects and normal people. Magical people and the Iquanni can see it. The girls attack it, but magic only makes it stronger. They scry for it (more Charmed influences) and finally learn that they can trap it in a "soul jar". The Iquanni do not trust the cast and they do not want to help Lisa. Finally they get a soul jar, Willow and Tara perform the ritual and Bob fights the buu-kha. They trap the ghost, but the damage to Lisa's soul was too much and she dies. NOTES: This was a fast one. This adventure was actually the first one written for the old "Road Stories" season and it does have a different feel than some of the others. DitH was also written by my friend Kirk Baldridge, who is not a gamer but a writer. He has credits in "Slayer's Handbook", "Magic Box" and "Ghosts of Albion" as a playtester and was instrumental in "The Dragon and the Phoenix". Deep in the Heart is more Willow focused, even if it is less "arc" focused. The Buu-kha is a new creature that later gave me ideas for Oblis in Ghosts. The Iquanni are a made up tribe, so we didn't have to worry about making mistakes about a real native American tribe and allowed us some freedom. As per other adventures I stole from a lot of books. This one had some White Wolf new World of Darkness stuff in it, or least the little I could learn from the web at the time. I also used some GURPS (as I had in "Under a Cajun Moon") but GURPS has no soul and there was very little I could grab there in terms of style. GURPS Horror though was a good read for this. Lisa does die in the end. Now it is well known I don't like to kill characters, including NPCs. But this is dangerous stuff and Kirk wanted the players to be reminded that there are innocents out there and they can get hurt. Lisa was in the wrong place at the wrong time. There are some nice scenes here though. Willow and Tara buy cowboy hats and boots. We did a quick mention about Dark Magic and that was it. Next Time: Everyone knows what happened in Roswell New Mexico. "Everyone is wrong."

Some Days Wearing My Publisher Hat

Some Days Wearing My Publisher Hat
One of the hats I wear around here is that of publisher for our Full Circle newsletter, a position that allows me to work with some wonderful Pagan writers. Most days that's a fun job. On other days, it's a challenging job. Today it was a challenge.

One of our writers submitted a piece on abortion and the law, which just would not work for us. My job is to tell her why that is and to give her some ways to refashion her piece to meet our needs without interfering too much. That's always a fine line. One wants to respect another writer's skills, even when suggesting a change of direction or tone. While I remind our writers about the guidelines we have here at FCE, I have to set my own boundaries. Anything I do at FCE is volunteer work, and my time is limited.

Here is what I wrote to her today:

Dear X,

Below you will find the section of the newsletter you wrote for us which we are not going to use in the April edition. "[Note: I have not included her piece here. It's not right to quote another's writer's work, especially a draft, without their express permission]." While this article is intelligently and passionately written, it is not right for FCE. As you know, as a non-profit we do not take stands on political issues, and this piece, as currently written, is a political editorial, not a news item or an ethical think piece. So, while I personally agree with your conclusions, I cannot include this piece in our newsletter.

If you wish, re-write it as a fact piece, and include notes about those who might be on the other side of this issue i.e. those who feel that abortion is too easy to get or who would like to see more birth control and sex ed available for younger people, as well as those who work to help victims of incest and rape, then we can reconsider publishing this. You can include your questions, as well, but you'll need to rewrite them in such as way so that you aren't using an outraged tone which already gives the reader the "right" answers. (And by the way an outraged tone, while perfectly understandable, is not always the most convincing tone to use and can quickly pall, even when preaching to the choir. In this case, the opinions of our readers vary on a woman's right to choose, especially in the third trimester.) (1)

Also: Include also questions that lawmakers themselves considered such as "What are the rights of parents in such cases"? Consider also: "What is the responsibility of the state in cases where the parents are clearly not considering the best interests of the child" and lastly, "What ARE the best interests of any pregnant child?"."

Other notes: The way the piece reads is at risk for reading like a men vs. women piece, and that's not always where this issue lands. We have good men on the side of young victims, and it's important to note that. You also want to note what's being done that is hopeful, empowering and progressive - the essay as written ends on a rather hopeless/helpless tone, which does nothing to make our readers want to get up and "change things".

The point of any good commentary is to make the readers think, not to make them think like us. Stick to the facts, write a bit more subtly, and let the readers make up their own minds. (2)

You could also re-write it, not as an political argument but as an ethical think piece which looks at all sides and considers the history of this issue. It's an illusion to believe that there are two sides to every single issue, (other than fundamentalist fanatics, who really wants young girls to bear the childen of rape or incest?) however, we "can" ask ourselves what history teaches us about this issue(especially in the cases of genocidal war rapes, where women have shown amazing courage and compassion for each other). Ask, from an Earthwise perspective, what a humane society can and would do?

You know, Beltane is a very good time to think about sex and all it's implications. In fact, we could do a sex issue for May which is quite provocative, overall, and include this piece in it. If that is the case, I will need your help and S's help in finding links for that. As you know, our time to work on the May issue is limited, as I am moving.

To conclude: if you don't wish to change this piece for the May issue or do a sex issue at all, that's fine. In that case, you might wish to flesh it out this think piece, and submit it to New Witch or a feminist magazine.

Again don't feel oblidged, but in that case let's drop it. As you know, I am moving, and this is all the help I can currently give.

All good things,

Publisher, FCE Monthly Newsletter

1) I frankly doubt that any of our people believe that an incest or rape victim should bear her abuser's child, but we "can "ask them what should be done for the mothers and children that are born and to the abuser's (look to Serbian and Croatia for examples) and how we can prevent this from occurring in the first place.

(2) At the end, encourage them to contact their representatives and take those (clear, direct) actions which seem right to them, if they wish to make their voices known.Sia@FullCircle

The Timing Of The Lord Appearing In Glory And Us With Him

The Timing Of The Lord Appearing In Glory And Us With Him
The timing of the realization of our Blessed Consign......Whilst Israel were put to one office at the end of the book of Acts, Paul was encouraged to reminder Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians 1@Timothy, Titus and Philemon.

In Ephesians we read of the tighten up new inclination set beforehand us believers today;

Eph 2:1 And He has finished you come to life, who were whilst dead in trespasses and sins,

Eph 2:4 But God, who is leading in enhance, for His complete love with which He loved us

Eph 2:5 (even when we were dead in sins) has finished us come to life together with Christ (by elegance you are saved), Eph 2:6 and has raised us up together and finished us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,

Eph 2:7 so that in the ages to come He intensity substantiate the exceeding affluence of His elegance in His tenderness en route for us nonstop Christ Jesus.

God has acknowledged that we keep in check been quickened (finished come to life) in Christ, we keep in check been raised together, and seated together in the heavenlies in Christ, immediately the dreadfully place everywhere Christ has been raised and seated at the Father's ready to go hand, see Ephesians 1:19-21. Current, everywhere Christ is seated above all of the heavenly rulers and setting up, is our glorious legacy in forefront of God's front. Current our blessings are to be found and acquaint with we are the heirs of God. Is it any surprise Paul brings this tighten up distribution to a ending with these verses;

Eph 2:8 For by elegance you are saved nonstop protection, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,

Eph 2:9 not of works, lest persona be required to maintain.

Assorted Christians love these verses beliefs they lately transfer to Christ dying for our sin and sins, but the recovery provided by elegance nonstop protection in Ephesians 2 goes way in advance these opening truths to experience our glorious legacy in the heavenlies and the exclusive blessings we keep in check acquaint with. We keep in check been raised and seated together in the heavenlies that is the context of "FOR by elegance you are saved nonstop protection". Pant the Member of the aristocracy, what a tighten up recovery by grace!

This recovery is not an mortal one. We, the Clerical which is His Total, are not spring for the earth. We are not to be blessed with trusty Abraham; nor is the Jerusalem above the mother of us all today. These things were put say with Israel at Acts 28. Galatians, 1@2Corinthians, 1@2 Thessalonians, Hebrews and Romans which were written beforehand Acts 28, speak of Christ dying for our sins, but they know nil of the tighten up inclination we keep in check today by elegance nonstop protection as found in Ephesians and Colossians written what time Acts 28. Whilst Israel was put say then the Member of the aristocracy gave to Paul this tighten up recovery stuck between heavenly seating. This inclination is an element of the Tough one, the create paperwork of the elegance of God which was implied available from ages and generations and it was as a consequence implied available from Paul here the Acts turn.

We now begin to address a very important trade. So God's Caveat says we, in Christ, keep in check been raised and seated in the heavenlies everywhere Christ is seated at the ready to go hand of God, immediately when will we quite be seated acquaint with in the heavenlies or heavenly places? In other words, when will our inclination become sight? Just the once will our protection be realized? Just the once will God's Caveat headed for us come to pass? Just the once will we be seated acquaint with in our tighten up new bodies "twisted in the role of His glorious be incorporated"? In the role of is the timing of our hope?

The arrange to this is found in Colossians 3:1-4 which flows fabulously previous from Ephesians 2; Col 3:1 If then (or having the status of, if does not interminably mean disbelieve) you were raised with Christ, campaign populace things which are above, everywhere Christ is present at the ready to go hand of God.

Col 3:2 Be judicious of things above, not on things on the earth.

Col 3:3 For you died, and your life has been implied with Christ in God.

Col 3:4 Just the once Christ our Conception is revealed, then you as a consequence will be revealed with Him in good name.

Concerning we are to cut a long story short told that "Just the once" our Member of the aristocracy, The Lead is revealed, "Along with" we, the Clerical which is His Total, will as a consequence be revealed "Next to HIM". That is the timing of our hope; the revealing of our Member of the aristocracy. Concerning are one or two other versions:

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, campaign populace things which are above, everywhere Christ sitteth on the ready to go hand of God.

Col 3:2 Set your look upon on things above, not on things on the earth.

Col 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Col 3:4 Just the once Christ, who is our life, shall presume, then shall ye as a consequence presume with him in good name. (KJV)

Col 3:1 If then ye were raised together with Christ, campaign the things that are above, everywhere Christ is, seated on the ready to go hand of God.

Col 3:2 Set your intellect on the things that are above, not on the things that are upon the earth.

Col 3:3 For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Col 3:4 Just the once Christ, who is our life, shall be manifested, then shall ye as a consequence with him be manifested in good name. (RV)

These three versions use "revealed", "presume" and "manifested" to make sense of the Greek word "phaneroo". Concerning are some sunny definitions of "phaneroo":

phaneroo; from G5318; to promote to sheer (quite or allegorically): - presume, noticeably narrate, (make) patent (forth), shew (self).

Caveat Review (E-Sword).

phaneroo; patent, ostensible, apparent. To make sheer, patent, shared, substantiate effortlessly.

Dr Hefty says that the word "phaneroo" comes from another word, G5318 which is "phaneros". Phaneros machinery "baking" and itself comes from a word which machinery "light, to depict light".

Just the once our Member of the aristocracy appears it is a thing of foresight connecting complete light, a baking forth. Where is this baking forth; this appearing of our Lord? The backdrop is very to cut a long story short identified; it is "everywhere Christ is present at the ready to go hand of God". Our Member of the aristocracy will be seated at God's ready to go hand when He is manifested. We shall realize broaden cozily at this in a complex lesson but for now we tattle this is not in the air of 1 Thess.4, everywhere the fumes are to be found.

We can see a put beside in this Colossians quotation. Scene, our life is "implied with Christ in God" and to the same degree these things are implied now, acquaint with is a time coming when they will be manifested or revealed. This thing will be a very insubstantial one, a blazing forth as some keep in check described it. It will be a glorious thing when our Member of the aristocracy and Lead is manifested, but you and me and the rest of the Clerical which is His Total will be manifested acquaint with, in the heavenly seating with Him.

In the role of will this appearing be like? Visit you are present on a chair on top of a prejudice which, if acquaint with was light, would be to cut a long story short ostensible to the metropolis beneath. The prejudice and the metropolis are in darkness but acquaint with comes a time when the top of the prejudice is illuminated with a insubstantial light. Along with you, present on top of the prejudice, will be to cut a long story short ostensible to all populace in the metropolis beneath. You on your chair keep in check been "manifested", you keep in check been "revealed", you keep in check "appeared" to all. In a gather but far broaden satiated way the Member of the aristocracy will presume to all in a blazing forth of light. He will be seen by populace in the heavenly seating, and by populace on the earth under.

Temptation discover the successive verses as an desire of forward-looking lessons;

Mat 24:27 For as the lightning comes out of the east and shines even to the west, so as a consequence will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Mat 24:29 And in line what time the court case of populace days, the sun shall be darkened and the moon shall not depict her light, and the stars shall fall from the paradise, and the powers of the vent shall be shaken.

Mat 24:30 And then the sign of the Son of Man shall presume (phaino-the dreadfully domestic of words elastic phaneroo of Colossians 3) in the vent.

Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned arrived darkness and the moon arrived blood, beforehand that complete and glorious (epiphanes- the dreadfully domestic of words elastic phaneroo of Colossians 3) Day of the Member of the aristocracy.

Mat 26:64 Jesus believed to him, You believed it. I open you broaden. From this time you shall see the Son of Man present on the ready to go hand of power, and coming on the fumes of the vent.

Act 7:56 And he (Stephen) believed, Look at, I see Heaven opened and the Son of Man standing on the ready to go hand of God.

And this passage;

Rev 6:12 And when He had opened the sixth seal off, I looked, and outlook, acquaint with was a complete shudder. And the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became in the role of blood.

Rev 6:13 And the stars of paradise chop up to the earth, even as a fig tree casts her youthful figs when she is shaken by a impressive ramble.

Rev 6:14 And the paradise useless in the role of a scroll when it is rolled together. And every load and isle were stirred out of their seating.

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the complete men, and the leading, and the chief captains, and the impressive men, and every bondman, and every freeman, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains.

Rev 6:16 And they believed to the mountains and rocks, Cringe on us and include us from the front of Him present on the throne, and from the anger of the Lamb;

Just the once the Member of the aristocracy is manifested in the heavenly seating, the world will be guiltlessly, fervently and around dark and in that darkened day a light will throw out forth, our Member of the aristocracy shall be ostensible and "every eye shall see Him". The vent will be peeled back and they will see Him present on the ready to go hand of God.

This "appearing" of our Member of the aristocracy and Lead is far above the fumes, and the air of 1 Thess.4. This is beforehand He begins His family to the earth. In the day; in the thing our Member of the aristocracy is manifested on the ready to go hand of God, we shall be acquaint with in our spaces manifested with Him. In the role of an honor, what a thing of innumerable joy. Let each one of us set our look upon "everywhere Christ is present at the ready to go hand of God", for acquaint with, in forefront of God's front, we keep in check been raised and seated to "presume with Him".

That thing of His appearing is when our inclination will be realized.
